I'm kinda looking to move downtown, but my price range is around $700. I've not had much luck with online sites, but I bet word of mouth would work better for me. I reject your reality and substitute my own!

I went apartment shopping on Capitol Hill after they tried to raise my rent to $1405/mo on Bellevue and Olive, and there's not a lot out there right now. It used to be you could walk the neighborhood and call on the for rent signs, but it's not so easy anymore. All the ex-homeowners are eating up the rentals, and the apartments are converting to condos. I moved many times in the past ten years, and this is the least-friendly rental market I have seen. I felt darned lucky to find a $995/mo place in Eastlake.
