1. Call me Ivy. It's not necessary to call me ivygreen. And since you asked, NEVER call me "maaaaam." I find that irritating for many reasons.

2. Favorite colors include bright leaf green (like sunlight through a leaf in May) and darkest almost-black green, twilight blue, seashell/sky pink, and the aquamarine color of natural glass, and Tiffany blue.

3. Beverage of choice is black tea, steeped three minutes, or green tea made from powdered green tea or steeped one and one-half minutes. Or watermelon juice, cantaloupe juice, orange juice, or grape juice as close to squeezed-this-minute as possible. Never pasteurized, unless I am absolutely desperate and it's the only option. Fruit must be fresh, fresh, fresh.

4. Favorites include: Brian Eno, Chava Alberstein, Siouxsie, Infected Mushroom, Bob Dylan, Gang of Four, more collected folk music than I can possibly even think about, Yiddish songs, French rock, psychobilly, early 60s girl groups, hard bop, early punk... punk in general. I prefer melodic, original, authentic, on-key music by people with working class revolutionary progressive politics, but I will settle for anything I can dance to. I listen to the words obsessively until I understand. I like the Rolling Stones better than the Beatles, and the Kinks and the Who better than the Rolling Stones: this should tell you something about my politics, if it doesn't explain why I'm on a Goth board. I hate trying to list music because I always forget the best stuff. Let's do authors: Sholem Aleichem, Lewis Thomas, Candace Bushnell, Franz Kafka, P. G. Wodehouse, Martin Buber... I tend to read a lot of non-fiction, which tends to be by a lot of different authors. And many of my favorite "authors" are primarily philosophers (Baruch Spinoza, Jean-Paul Sartre, Viktor Frankel) or poets or scientists, and it just occurred to me that I'd probably be a lot happier if I'd get into murder mysteries or something reliably escapist. The problem is that most pop fiction has... FLAWS. Substandard writing makes me almost physically ill. I need more good, escapist fiction written in PROPER ENGLISH. If someone would free Candace Bushnell from whatever infernal contract made her write Lipstick Jungle, I would be the happiest non-blonde around. Films: 1900, Perfume, Jean de Florette, Manon des Sources, Donnie Darko, Pi, Matrix I, II, & III, Rhythm Thief, most of La Nouvelle Vague, most Film Noir, and for some reason I can't explain (it's PRETTY? It's hypnotic?) endless stacks of Bollywood.

5. My favorite flavor of ice cream is socialist. Wait, I mean vanilla. VANILLA. Made from vanilla beans, sugar-not-corn-syrup, NO propylene glycol, and organic, hormone-free full-fat milk and cream. Vanilla with those tiny little ostentatious petit-bourgeois seeds flaunting themselves in every austenitic 316-stainless spoonful. Organic, I say, but the label must not feature cows (I don't wanna think about it, ew, ew, ew) and the brand must not feature any mythical hippie matriarchs named "Annie" or "Maggie" or the word "delight." I'd also prefer no fake-bucolic names like Mossy Bog Farms, Deadweight Dairy, or Laissez-Faire Ranch, but really I'll settle for organic and nasty-chemical-free. Small vanilla, please. I also like that weird coconut-based, agave-sweetened non-dairy ice-cream, Coconut Bliss™. Also vanilla, or black cherry amaretto.
