Hello, All. I've moved here from Cleveland not too recently, and I've decided to start exploring what Seattle has to offer. I'm pretty much into
what you'd expect musically from the usual club-ish type, though I tend to lean more towards post-punk/old industrial. I've convinced that
"Scientist" is the hight of human achievement, and believe that one day the human race will be destroyed by either robots, or zombies. However, in a
particularly hellish future, zombies and robots will merge, forming a sort of undead robot that will crave CPUs, and all of us gamers are screwed. I digress...
Back in the ol' Cleveland I was DJ Darclight at The Chamber, where I spun goth/industrial/electroclash/80's for a good 9 years. I also continue to DJ
for an internet radio station www.justiceradio.net every monday from 6pm -10pm.
I've checked out Noc Noc a month ago and I enjoyed the Saturday I was there, I'm gonna head out there this Sunday to see what that night is like.
I'm sure there's more out there to do, and I'd love any and all input.

I too am an escapee of the great midwest. You might also check out Club Vogue at Neighbors on saturdays, and The Mercury. The Merc is members only, however I believe they have non-member nights. Also, if you seem reasonably intelligent, most folks will guest you in. now, on to the questions: 1) What's your name or what should we call you? 2) What's your favorite color BESIDES the obvious black? 3) What is your beverage of choice? 4) Who/what are some of your favorite authors, bands, or movies? 5) Are you old enough to remember The Altar House on 9th St?

Thanks for the welcome! I just found out about Club Vogue at Neighbors, and I knew about Mercury. I just didn't know how to go about getting a membership
to it.
1) What's your name or what should we call you? My name is Christopher, I have way too many nicknames, so Christopher works. 2) What's your favorite color BESIDES the obvious black? Cobalt blue. I'm very specific about my blues. 3) What is your beverage of choice? Sake! If that's not available, vodka tonic with a twist of lime, and lots of it. 4) Who/what are some of your favorite authors, bands, or movies? Authors: Neal Stephenson, William Gibson, Clive Barker, Lovecraft Bands: Warsaw/Joy Division/New Order, Killing Joke, The Chameleons UK, Stone Roses, Sisters, Jesus & Mary Chain, Gang Of Four, Bauhaus, etc. Movies: Tron, Anything by Dario Argento and Luccio Fulci. Hard Rock Zombies, Mirrormask, etc 5) Are you old enough to remember The Altar House on 9th St? Old enought to remember? Yes. Old enough to have atteneded? No. I remember their commercial would always be playing when the alarm went off. The one with Wishing by Flock Of Seagulls. |

You should give Sake Nomi a try, if you haven't already discovered it yet. Saturday night at the Mercury is stompy industrial music. Finding someone to guest you in isn't too difficult, if you post either here or at the Seattle Gothic LJ community. Just be careful of the mixed drinks - you don't know what a strong pour is until you've tried one of their "doubles." And they have a decent vodka selection, too.

WOW! I had not heard of Sake Nomi, but I just read their entire website. I'm gonna check it out Saturday, thanks! I'd like to try these curiously strong drinks. Back at The Chamber, we had to remind the the bartender that there was indeed tonic in a vodka tonic.
Non-stop glasses of this whilst in the dj booth usually led to interesting evenings.

as far as The Mercury, i don't know much of the backstory; i just made my escape 5 years ago, but from what i understand, it's been that way for years.

I'm guessing you went to Outland? I spun there once or twice and enjoyed it. They seemed like a nice bunch of people. Congrats on escaping Ohio!

The liquor laws in Washington are ... interesting. Being a private club exempts it from having to follow certain of their restrictions.
And the presence of mixers in their drinks can also be debated.

yeah - we enjoy saturday nights at the Vogue; they play alot of the old stuff from our youth - cheesy songs you can dance to.

I'll be there next week, no question. It sounds a lot better than the Noc Noc. I was there last night, and meh. Better than the saturday I was there, but we felt we were missing something.

i know what you mean...Noc Noc is a little too "fetish" for me. I go out so rarely these days, i like to re-live the "glory days" with the
